Alice: An Original Song

fullsizeoutput_60a.jpeg

My original song, "Alice", is clearly based on Alice in Wonderland and has a lot of symbolism. Alice is having a lazy day, reading a book, when life suddenly throws Alice for a loop, and she falls down a rabbit hole. When Alice is in "Wonderland" she encounters many games she has to play; cards, croquet, chess, but the rules are all confusing. The people she meets seem crazy and don't make a lot of sense. Alice comes to a lot of forks in the road, and she often is unsure of which path to take. In the chorus of this song, Alice is dealing with The Queen of Hearts. The queen is always going around yelling, "Off with her head!" You know, the typical hater type personality. Alice also meets Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Wonderland. Tweedledee and Tweedledum are two lookalikes that talk a lot of nonsense. I'm never sure if Alice's fall down the rabbit hole is a great adventure, her worst nightmare, or a little of both. "I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then," is an actual quote from the book. I guess we are all changed a little bit each day from our life experiences. I don't know if Alice viewed her time in Wonderland as an adventure or not, but when she woke up I'm sure she was a lot smarter. I hope you enjoy this song. I had a great time working on it! I would like to thank Chris Bihuniak at Rock Band Academy Studios for producing this song.

Alice

By Grace Piper Fields

She looked so pretty in her blue dress

She dozed by a tree and life wasn’t a mess

She fell down a rabbit hole

Alice fell down a rabbit hole

Which way I ought to go from here

There’s a fog in the path and it isn’t clear

We get caught up in the games that people play

But in the end we always find our own way

And the Queen of Hearts reigns on her throne

She can’t have my head

And my heart she doesn’t own

But there is one thing I know

Yes, you reap what you sow

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

It didn’t make a lot of sense to me

Why the Hatter was mad and why the would be

She fell down a rabbit hole

Alice fell down a rabbit hole

Which way I ought to go from here

There’s a fog in the path and it isn’t clear

We get caught up in the games that people play

But in the end we always find our own way

And the Queen of Hearts reigns on her throne

She can’t have my head

And my heart she doesn’t own

But there is one thing I know

Yes, you reap what you sow

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

So I’ll watch it all go down down down

Then I’ll reach the crown crown crown crown crown

It’ll all go down down down down down

Then I’ll grab the crown crown crown crown crown

“I knew who I was this morning, but I’ve changed a few times since then.”

And the Queen Hearts reigns on her throne

She can’t have my head

And my heart she doesn’t own

But there is one thing I know

Yes, you reap what you sow

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

She looked so pretty in her blue dress
