After a two year hiatus, I am back to doing my favorite strength building and flexibility exercise: aerial silks. Last summer I was determined to make this a priority and found a way to fit it into my schedule. While I do only spend one hour per week in the studio (Kansas City Aerial Arts), it is a power packed hour. I think what I love so much about aerial silks is that it pushes me in so many ways. Not only does it require a huge amount of concentration, but it also makes me test my limits in both strength and flexibility. I also really enjoy it as an art form and a form of dance. I am so inspired by the more experienced students who have put countless hours into this craft and hope to keep aerial performing arts as something to continue to pursue as part of my fitness routine. Below is my performance from the student showcase in December.
