Self Care Saturday
Taking time for self care is like getting fueled up. The mind, body, and spirit are connected and if we take the time to take care of ourselves, we can go out into the world as our best self. With a few weeks of school underway, I decided that this Saturday was a good time to spend some time recharging.
I have been thinking more about...
... the quality of the food I eat. I would really like to cut down on the amount of processed ingredients I eat, and to eat more protein. I have recently discovered Garden Lites muffins from Costco. They are packed full of healthy ingredients and super foods, and come in different flavors. We are currently trying the Blueberry Oat Muffins made with fresh zucchini & carrots. They come frozen and you just pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds and you have a warm, delicious muffin! Paired with a hard boiled egg, fresh fruit, and almond milk, and my day was off to great start!
Turning the master bedroom of our house into a spa was next in line for having a very pampered Saturday. I went about gathering all things peaceful and serene. Candles, a pile of inspirational books, beauty products, fluffy towels, my bamboo plant named Bambi, and some meditation music all added to the ambiance. We also made fruit infused water to keep hydrated. My sister, Sophie just completed her first few weeks as a third grade teacher and was in need of a recharge as well. We did home manicures and pedicures and face masks. My cat, Annabelle, was very interested in the whole process, and I think she enjoyed it as much as we did!
Pickwick & Co. candles are actually made in Kansas City! One of my favorite scents is Fall Foliage.
I tried out my first peel-off face mask and it really did make my face feel very smooth, but it was pretty intense. For pedicures, we used the Amope Pedi Perfect. It works really well and keeps your feet super smooth.
But perhaps my favorite mask is my Whipped Mud Mask with argan in it. I purchased it at Sephora, and it always leaves my face feeling hydrated and fresh.
