I think snow makes cold weather a lot more bearable. I love how the ice sparkles when everything is frozen solid. When the weather turns frigid you can always count on a vest to warm you up. This year at Christmas, there were a lot of vests under our Christmas tree. We called it "The Year of the Vest." With a pair of basic black leggings or jeans with boots, it is easy to put together some warm Winter outfits with vests. I have also been experimenting with some Winter makeup looks. Here are some of my favorites:
I'm really glad that J. Crew has brought back the turtleneck. They are a little bit longer, which looks good with leggings, and the neck is not too tight. I paired a grey Patagonia vest with a purple-ish turtleneck. (J. Crew) The monogrammed ear warmer is from Etsy. You can order them in a variety of colors for about $12! I went with a more natural look for makeup, and topped it all off with some hoop earrings.
I really love how a lot of sweaters this season have a bell sleeve. This wool, burgundy sweater (J. Crew) has a longer cut with slits on the sides, which works well with leggings. This grey sweater vest with a faux fur collar is one of my favorites (Halls). The pair of boots I have probably been wearing the most lately is this black pair with faux fur trim on the top (Off Broadway). For makeup I went with a wintery frosted look. I used the lip color called Take a Spin (Sephora).
I can't seem to get enough faux fur! This furry, blue vest comes in a multitude of colors (J. Crew). I especially like it paired with this wool, snowflake sweater (also J. Crew). For lips I went with Coconut Grove (Sephora). A sapphire colored Kendra Scott necklace was the finishing touch.
With all this cold weather, I have been doing a combination of staying in and going out. I did make it out to the movie theatre to see The Greatest Showman. The combination of it being a musical, having circus stunts, the messages, and the beautiful filming blew me away! To me, it was a masterpiece. Another fun thing I did recently was go to Breakout KC. It seemed like something out of a spy movie! We did the Hero: Save the People room, and DID make it out!
